En esta carta, te quiero platicar que tuve la oportunidad de ir a Nueva York a principios de octubre, y visité The Museum of Modern Art y el Metropolitan Museum of Art. Solo voy a comentarte sobre tus pinturas, probablemente utilizaré parte de tus cartas en las que describiste a Theo o a alguno de tus amigos pintores sobre tus obras. De nuevo, al mencionar alguna de tus pinturas, incluyo el número de catálogo de cada una según haya sido generado por J. de la Faille (F) o por Jan Hulsker (JH).

Al llegar al The Museum of Modern Art, que se encuentra ubicado en forma temporal en el Queens, me entero que la mayor parte de tus pinturas están de viaje en exhibición en algún otro museo. A pesar de que vi una exposición de fotografía denominada Ansel Adams a los 100, artista a quien también admiro, me sentí un poco frustrado de no poder ver tus pinturas. Sólo pude ver en exhibición el Retrato de Joseph Roulin (F0436/JH1675) que pintaste en abril de 1889. Te envio una foto que tomé de la pintura.

Por otra parte, en el Metropolitan Museum of Art estaban casi las mismas pinturas que encontré el pasado 9 de marzo de 2003, según te platiqué en mi carta anterior. Sólo habian quitado el cuadro del Vergel en Flor (F0552/JH1381) y lo habian sustituido por el de Primeros Pasos (después de Millet) (F0668/JH1883), del cual también te envio una fotografía que tomé.

Como recordarás mi queridísimo amigo, escribiste a Theo: "Esta semana comenzaré el campo cubierto de nieve y el cuadro de los 'Primeros Pasos' de Millet, en el mismo tamaño de los otros" (T623).

In this letter, I want to tell with you I went to New York at the beginning of this month, and I visited The Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I will comment you about your paintings, maybe I will use some phrases of your letters to Theo or some of your friends about your paintings. When I mention your paintings, I will use the catalogue numbers as they were developed by J. de la Faille (F) or by Jan Hulsker (JH).

When I arrived to The Museum of Modern Art, temporarly located at Queens, I got frustrated because the most of your paintings were not on exhibition. Fortunately, I could see a photography exhibition called Ansel Adams at 100, another artist I admired. I only could see your Portrait of Joseph Roulin (F0436/JH1675), you painted on April 1889. I send you a photo of this painting.

By the way, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art I found practically the same paintings exhibited by March 9, 2003, as I told you in my previous letter, with the exhibition of the painting First Steps (after Millet) (F0668/JH1883), instead of Orchard in Blossom (F0552/JH1381). I send you a photograph I took of the Firs Steps' painting.

As you remember my dearest friend, you wrote to Theo: "This week I am going to start on the snow-covered field and Millet's 'The First Steps', in the same size as the others" (T623).
