La plej fruaj pentraĵoj de Vincent van Gogh ofertas interesan enrigardon en lian artistan disvolviĝon. Multaj el la pentraĵoj en la suba tabelo enhavas temojn, kiujn Van Gogh poste uzos dum sia tuta kariero (ekz. farmdomoj aŭ semanto). Kelkaj el la pentraĵoj laŭstile ŝajnas plataj kaj la koloroj ne ĉiam estas plej bone uzataj, tiuj pentraĵoj tamen indikas kreskantan geniulon.
