"Vincent at Saint-Remy"
by Marc MacNair
VIII.
Les Fleurs de Ciel (Irises) Flood of spring flowers Irises flowing outward The soil welcomes them A field the divine Reminder of Aararat, Holy covenant
Gaze at the field, paint Its image, pick the flowers Image doesn’t change Arranged, composed, stem Sits in the watered vessal Petal lives longer Every blossom Falling to its proper place Nature paints itself
Mound of irises Against palletes of gold Endless, more sacred Flower on canvas, Iris growing, distinct shades Of the same color |
