JAUNE PARADIS

ruisselantes d'or, s'exaltant

YELLOW PARADISE

Too late a new time has risen,
era of total glory,
But poor, tormented, ignored by all,
misfortunes couldn't abolish
his truthfulness of belief.

Mark of God he found in stars, in flowers.
Liberally his hand put them
on his paintings
streaming with that gold
Its genius seems to reinvent.
Thus is revealing itself
the Light of Vincent The Condemned.

(from the picture Starry Night over the Rhone, Arles,1888 - Paris, Musée d'Orsay)

f_0455.jpg (161117 bytes) BOUQUET DE DOUZE

TWELVE FOR A POSY

From button to faded flower,
in a vase, they are twelve,
such as disciples around their Lord:
those like-minded brothers,
what do they mean?

Here is Peter's denial,
and Thomas's doubt
Philip asking for God's visions.
Still Judas The Iscariot,
so an awful recruit.

Twelve called to follow Jesus
who were rumored docile,
turning their heads towards Him,
human sunflowers waiting to The Father,
their Messiah announced.

(from the picture Vase with 12 sunflowers, 1888 - München, Neue Pinakothek)
